I have 3 different types of courses on offer:
1 – Open – you can just check these out…no cost, no sign up, no nothin. It’s my pleasure…enjoy!
2 – Free accounts – if you sign up I can give you more attention (because I can interact with you better!).
3- Paid Courses – I can offer you the most benefit here, because you are paying for my time,
and I know you are committed to learning. Let’s do amazing things!
Who am I?
My name is Dave Graham.
I love using my 30 years of obsession with music theory to help others get the best out of their ideas.
My kind of music theory is less formal and more non-conformist than traditional theory – with a focus on simple but powerful techniques for creating a unique identity in your music.
Although you’ve probably never heard of me, I’ve had rave reviews for pretty much all my projects.
These include being the enigmatic techno legend Ukkonen,
a co-founder of orchestral-doombience duo Regolith,
and half of avant-pop pranksters Cnut…
What they’ve said about my music:
“A solution to the problem of dance music” – Wire magazine
“A bright, strange future of techno.. it’s wonderful” – mnmlssgs
“Sucks you into its world completely” – Sonic Router
“An all-encompassing soundscape that leaves you feeling aurally nourished… the results are worth marvelling over” – Zap! Bang!
“Thoroughly exciting music” – Cyclic Defrost
“Meltingly delicious” – Metro
“Impressive and slightly otherworldly” – Plain & Simple
“Immediately stood out as something special” – Gridface
“Refreshingly good and diverse electronic music” – Data Transmission
“An excellent and unique release” – Exclaim
“…refreshingly unique and drenched in unconventionality” – Bleep
“Stylish and understated” – Trebuchet
“has internationally renowned DJs and labels taking notice, creating a flurry of ‘must-have’ criticism that will likely leave the majority of those interested in obtaining a copy high and dry.” – Connexion Bizarre
“a stunning EP… highly recommended” – Norman Records
“Quite unlike anything you can really place your finger on” – Boomkat
“Hypnotism and polyrhythm to delight the most discerning ears” – DJ Mag
“…what’s striking me the most about this is the complexity and broadness of the emotional expression contained on what I initially thought was going to be a fairly intellectual and challenging listen…
There’s always a precision and cleanness to the sounds but the glitches, clicks and electronic scree mixed with live instrumentation keep it from ever seeming clinical. This is close to perfect…” – Norman Records
Do I need to be able to read music?
No – it’s not necessary with my method. I use audio and annotated screenshots from the midi roll in Logic to show musical examples where necessary. I rarely use music notation unless there is a special reason to – but I’ll always explain any examples for those who don’t read music anyway.
Do I need any special music theory knowledge to do the course?
Not really. A little experience of making music should be enough. If you are familiar with major and minor chords that’d help. I have tutorials on everything you need to know anyway.
What If I buy a course and don’t like it?
I’ll give you a refund within 30 days if it’s not for you. That said I want to accommodate your needs so I’m happy to create new tutorials if you need them. I’d rather put in the extra effort to help you rather than turn you away. I’ve been running this site since 2012 and have only been asked for (and given) 2 refunds.
Will learning this stuff make my music sound like everyone else?
NO. I want you to sound like you! I’ve designed these tutorials to bring out the best in what you do – not to shape your music to my taste. I just enjoy teaching people a bunch of different building techniques – what you build with them is up to you!
Got more questions?
I’m active on facebook and twitter and am happy to answer any questions about this course, the tutorials, the site in general or even just a music theory question!
I’d love to hear from you!
The courses are open for new registrations!
I’d love for you to try this course – the emails I get saying that I’ve helped someone turn their ideas into their best track so far make my day every time.
If you feel lost trying to organise your musical ideas into a really strong finished product – try these courses.
They were written to help you with this very problem!
